The design of these runestone pendants are modelled on an Anglo-Saxon runestone fragment discovered by Avril at the ancient hilltop settlement of Chapelhill, 4 miles North of Teviothead. The full alphabet comprises of runes collected from artifacts from the Borderlands of England and Scotland - some being unique to this area.

In Mythology the knowledge of runes were discovered by Odin after hanging from the World tree Yggdrasil for nine days. Runes were employed for purposes of secrecy, charms and divination.
